A friend asked me a
question, days back, “Frances, what do you do when everything is hopeless, when
people disappoint you and you don’t know what to do?”
Truth is, everyone has
a story. We all have something we are fighting. Some have inner battles that
you can never tell on the outside. We all at one time will face bad seasons and
moments.
One thing I have
realized in my short stay on earth is that tough times never last. It’s the
truth. No situation, no matter how hopeless and challenging or bleak lasts
forever.
If the present looks
hopeless and like a hole you can never crawl out of, look to the future you
want and believe in it. Know the present must always give way and where you are
now will never and cannot be where you will be in five years. Things will
change for the better.
Moments always pass and
that moment will too. No matter how bleak it seems, it will pass.
If looking to the
future doesn’t work, ever tried praying?
Some moments in life
can make you question God and the point in praying. God will never give you
more than you can carry. It may seem so unfair that you have to go through it
while others aren’t. There is something you need to learn from that moment of
hopelessness, it could be preparing you like fire forges iron. It’s your period
of going through the fire to become something greater.
It’s either you win the
fight against the hopelessness or the hopelessness wins. You are tougher than
you think you are. Sometimes, you don’t know how that tide will turn but just
believe it will even if you don’t know how for now.
Another truth is humans
are naturally selfish; it didn’t favour them at the time to give you the help
you needed. Even the Bible asks we place our trust in God and not in man.
People will always disappoint and hurt you, what matters is how you react to
that disappointment. Never let someone’s actions towards you, change you in a
bad way. Their actions tell about them, not you.
They are not your God. They are not you. They do not have your destiny in their palms even though it may seem and feel like it at the time.
Look to the future,
know the moment will surely pass, trust in God.
Corona will pass.
Thank you for reading
my thoughts, what are yours?

Indeed no trying time lasts for always. And God is truly the only One who remains faithful and true to us in every situation. However we are humans and can only run to another in times of need. But I have learnt that people will only be willing to help if they gain something from it. It might look selfish if the person in need feels disappointed, but I think we should also not make promises and raise hope when we don't want to help. Thank you Frances

DeleteThank you very much for sharing your thoughts, Titi.
True, we should never make promises we don't intend to keep.
Good read. My comments centers around hope itself. Incidentally I actually did a study on hope recently and I realized hope is always based on confidence in something or someone. Like you said, that hope must be built on confidence in God ONLY otherwise becoming hopeless is inevitable. God NEVER expects us to trust people not to fail. God just expects us to love people regardless. Hope cannot fail and invariably there will never be a time we are left without hope when we build our confidence in God alone. Quite inspiring. Thank you for this Frances.
