Have you
ever been at a crossroad? Have you ever reached out to people around you for
help and no one looked your way?
Well my post is for you.
Femi had a
dream, a passion burning within him. He wanted to pursue this dream. Everyone
tried to discourage him. They said he was stupid that it would never work. He’s
nobody, he’s not even a celebrity, so who would buy into his dream. Femi
reached out to his friends and family members, some promised to help. He waited
on them but help never came. He called and called, went to their offices,
houses but they only gave him words. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months
and months into a year. The people he had counted on; the friends, aunties and
uncles had let him down. Femi was distraught. His dream was dying before his
eyes. One day,
he was in a bar he looked morose and had a bottle of beer before him. He wanted to drown his pains the wrong way. An elderly man in the bar started a conversation with him and he spoke to this stranger about his dream. The stranger, Femi knew from nowhere, invited him to his office and gave him the funds he needed. Femi became a celebrity. His dream came to be, a thousand times bigger.

Judith was
done with service. She had spent a year at home already after service. She was
moving from one company to the other submitting her Curriculum Vitae. She
approached family members, well placed in the society to please help her. She
approached friends that were working already. She approached well known church
members. Everyone promised to help that it was a small thing but no one ever
did. The one year after service was fast becoming two years. She knew no one
anywhere. The people she thought she knew had let her down. Her degree was
excellent. She had made a 2.1. She didn’t even mind any work, she just wanted
to survive. She cast her expectations down and applied to primary schools but
still nothing. She was strolling past and saw a signpost that a house help was
wanted. Judith applied and hence this graduate of Chemical Engineering with a
2.1 became a house help. Judith was hopeful; she went about her job diligently.
She had no idea what her employers were into. One day, Judith overheard her Oga
speaking with a man about a certain product. Spending time at home, Judith had
read a whole lot. She realized that this man was about to cheat her boss, when
the man left, she approached her boss and said her mind. He investigated and
found out she was right and very knowledgeable. She even had a great degree. He
paid no attention that she had no work experience; he put her in charge of the
new industry he was erecting. This industry became the biggest in Africa and
Judith was at the helm.
Sometimes,
in fact most times the people you expect to help you will never ever do it.
Just keep believing in yourself, your dream and in your God. On the way, you’d
find people that believe too. You will find help in strangers if your heart is
true when you least expect it. The universe answers you and throws help your
way. Whatever it is that’s weighing you down, whatever situations you find
yourself in don’t lose hope.
Work with what’s available in your environment at that moment. If you are unemployed waiting for a white collar job, look around you and do what you can that is right while you ‘wait.’ Help is on the way and will come when and where you least expect it. Cheers!
